Michael Cindrich began his legal career as a prosecutor for the County of San Diego District Attorney’s Office. He spent one year working as a deputy district attorney, serving as lead counsel on a wide array of cases including drug offenses as well as DUI’s, burglary, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.
For as long as he can remember, Michael has always felt that the prohibition of alcohol and drugs were equally absurd. “I have never been able to understand why the government chooses to waste time and resources prosecuting people who aren’t hurting anyone else,” he says.
Michael joined LEAP in 2011 to help advocate a policy change to legalization and regulation, based on his own experience as a prosecutor. “Legalization will protect society by making it more difficult for those involved in organized crime to accomplish their goals,” he says, “and simultaneously, regulation will limit our youth’s access to drugs. We can utilize the tax revenue and saved enforcement costs to better protect society while providing services to help people struggling with addiction recover.”
Michael now has his own private practice, the Law Offices of Michael E. Cindrich, APC, located in San Diego. He holds a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and an MBA from the University of San Diego School of Business Administration.
