Nico is LEAP’s Legislative Assistant. He is originally from Colombia, and is the son of a former drug trafficking prosecutor there. He is bilingual (Spanish and English). Nico coordinates LEAP’s legislative efforts at the state and federal levels, addressing drug policy reform. He previously worked as an intern at the Office of former Congressman Ed Towns, who represents Brooklyn, New York, and worked with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee while Congressman Towns served as chairman. Nico is a philosophy major with a minor in international relations at the University of Maryland. He also serves as a Students for Sensible Drug Policy chapter leader.
